"Paradise, absolute paradise!" 10/21/13 "Oneluckypup" We were looking for a relaxing vacation, somewhere different, with young kids (8 and 3), and Barbara's Calypso Condo was beyond perfect! It had everything we could possibly want and more! Barbara made sure everything was covered and even rang us to check everything was a ok! The beach shack was very accommodating with free snacks and drinks for the kids and the entertainment room, pirates area, pool and beach just kept everyone happy. The pool and grounds were lovely but it was the thought Barbara put into the condo we couldn't fault, at all! The gifts, the basic essentials, the entertainment, the decor and the advice in the where to/what to/how to binder was spot on! Thank you Barbara

"Great family vacation!" Guest: St. Croix Beach Veteran (Indianapolis, IN) Date of Stay: 12/22/12 Review Submitted: 1/18/13 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Calypso Condo. It's nicely furnished and decorated, and provided more than ample space for the six adults in our group. Aside from the great living area (for together time) and the three bedrooms (for a bit of space when needed) it also had a nice-sized, well-stocked kitchen, plus several areas for relaxing outside. The condo grounds, pool and beach were also kept clean and orderly, making for a very pleasant and relaxing environment. We also liked the fact that the condo has many things which - simply put - made our time in St. Croix remarkably enjoyable. For example: a nice washer/dryer so we always had clean clothes/towels, thoughtful items like short beach chairs and coolers that were used as we lazed on the St. Croix beaches, and lots of beach towels so we never ran out. Usually when we stay at a rental we find ourselves mentally making a list of items that the owner has forgotten or neglected to include. At Calypso Condo though, we'd be hard pressed to come up with anything we felt was missing. We'd recommend Calypso Condo to anyone, the only caveat would be that you should get a rental car if you decide to stay here. The location is great for privacy and peace/quiet, but you'll be glad to have a car when you want to explore the island, get groceries for your stay or go out for dinner. We were extremely glad we stayed there and would certainly come back again - it made for a wonderful vacation.

Fabulous Guest: CL Date of stay: November 20, 2012 Review submitted: February 11, 2013 My family of 6 with preteen children went to Calypso Condo for a week. We loved everything about it. It was immaculate, well stocked right down to the blender for our pina coladas. My kids used the basketball area, ping pong, shuffle board and putting green as well as the golf clubs for a round of golf. The pool was fantastic and open all hours which was nice to jump in at night. I would recommend this unit to everyone. I have traveled to many islands and many homes and condos, this condo has it all. We met many other owners/renters but it was never crowded. We also loved the beach shack, great food and great price as well as very friendly cooks. The location was also optimal, 15 min to town, 10 min to Cane bay. You will love your stay at calypso Condo.

The Calypso Condo is a great island rental. It comfortably accommodated our family reunion of five adults and one child. It is beautifully appointed, with lovely art work on the walls and elegant furniture. The bedrooms are commodiously large and all the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is great for light or serious cooking and the community rooms work well for parties and socializing. The unit is conveniently located to shopping and restaurants, and the Gentle Winds community is superbly maintained. The views from the balconies are beautiful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the condo, it exceeded our expectations in every respect. I highly recommend this condo.

Loved Calypso at Gentle Winds

My family and I couldn't be more pleased with our choice of c2 at Gentle Winds. The grounds are so expansive and the condos are very spread out, it was more like a resort. Barbara has gone above and beyond with her lavish redo of her condo, everyone had their own bathroom (and with teenagers this was heaven). Not to mention all the extras Barbara thought of to provide for her guests. We literally drove from one end of the island to the other and saw most all other rentals, Gentle Winds by far has the best location , set away from town right off a winding road that overlooks the ocean. The pool was huge and pristine and the beach was totally private. If you go this is where you should stay.

My large extended family gathered for 10 days from 6/29-7/9, all staying in different units at Gentle Winds. I've been to Gentle Winds twice before, and always love seeing our unit for the first time. Calypso Condo does not disappoint in any way. My parents, my husband and our 3 children all stayed in the unit. With 3 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and a sofabed, we were all comfortable with sleeping arrangements (and personal space). Calypso Condo (C-2) is bright, colorful and has all modern amenities, but embraces its locale. We loved the local art work, updated kitchen and views of palm trees, the resort, and the sea. The recreational toys in storage came in handy, as we used the tennis rackets, snorkeling masks, coolers, rafts, etc. We brought nothing but our bathing suits and some casual clothes to wear to occasional dinners out. A favorite local haunt is eat at cane bay. We went three times in that one week! Gentle Winds is like a jewel that you want everyone to behold, but at the same time, want to keep its' brilliance all to yourself. We rose almost every morning and hit the tennis courts by 7:30, all ages in tow. We lounged, poolside or seaside, cooling off frequently. Our children and their cousins spent hours playing ping-pong and in hermit crab alley. The shack kept us hydrated and satisfied with daily drink and food specials. Our favorite was the Gentle Windy (and the virgin fruit smoothie for the kids!) Thank you, Barbara, for the special touches like the champagne, soft bed linens and plastic cocktail glasses. Our stay on St. Croix is never long enough, but even now, weeks later, I still feel the trade winds on my face and hear the palm branches swaying in the breeze. I hope to return to Calypso again. True Paradise

Loved this place. It was very clean & well appointed. The location is great--10 minutes to Christiansted & close to our favorite places near Cane Bay. You can snorkel right off the beach. There's a beach bar right there with a chef who prepares interesting new dishes every day, along with a nice rum punch! Don't miss Buck Island--sailing with Captain Carl was an unforgettable experience. Also, go to Rainbow Beach & camp out at Rhythms for a perfect afternoon. Overall, this place was perfect. The amenities & location make for an awesome vacation. If you have younger kids, make sure you go hermit crab hunting on the west side of the condo common area, and enjoy the antics of the mongoose. Eat at "Eat" and "Off The Wall" at Cane Bay for ridiculously gorgeous sunset dining. Overall, this place exceeded all of our expectations.

Stay here and you won't be disappointed.

The condo is great. My family of 4 stayed here the beginning of June and will be back. That's the highest amount of praise you can give a place, right? The beds were comfortable, we had plenty of room to spread out, and the owner has thought of many "small" details to make the stay better. There are board games, pool toys, and beach essentials to make your stay a good one. My kids loved the Wii in the afternoon while my wife and I took a nap. It's an easy walk to the pool and beach and we liked being able to order lunch each day at the pool snack shack. Overall, a great experience and I highly recommend anyone to stay here.

From the moment we walked into the unit we felt at home and not as guests. The condo is decorated beautifully and very clean. It is modern but warm and inviting. They have kept true to the feel on the island of St. Croix and to the beach. The wood bar was a perfect accent to the granite kitchen counters. Every bedroom was decorated with care and each had a ceiling fan. There were movies and games for us to enjoy. The full size washer and dryer was great, so, pack light. The condo was a perfect fit for my husband and I with our family of our 4 young adults. But, I could see us staying there as a family with young children. The welcoming that was waiting for us was a wonderful surprise, was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. The binder with helpful hints and directions was a very nice touch. Even my in laws that stayed in a unit close by and have been to the island and Gentle Winds Resort several times, liked the binder. The binder gave us the courage to venture out. Gentle Winds is a wonderful resort with clean beach, pool and recreation room. The beach shack is a great place for lunch and island flavored drinks. Our favorite memories will be the Tan Tan Tour, Cruzan Rum Tour, the local restaurants, Off the Wall and Coconuts. Our family was in St. Croix for my nephew and new niece's wedding so we were a group of 13 and we were always welcomed and treated warmly by everyone on the island. Barbara was always available for any questions that I had concerning the unit. She is the perfect hostess and thought of the "little" things. We felt like we were dealing with and staying at a higher that 5 star resort. After my second visit to St. Croix, Gentle Winds will always be my choice for a place to stay and Unit "C-2" will be my choice to be at "home" in for this time forward. Thank you for a GREAT vacation!!!!!

Great Stay at Gentle Winds

We had a great stay at this very well equipped and well kept condo. May is a perfect time to visit St Croix – it is not crowed and the weather is perfect. The Gentle Winds complex is on the beautiful north shore, about 5 miles west of Christiansted and right next to the Salt River National Park. The Salt River Marina is a 5 minute walk or 2 minute drive – you can go out on a dive boat or rent a kayak and the restaurant is perfect for lunch or an early dinner. The complex has a large pool and a nice beach with good snorkeling. The condo was in ‘like new’ condition with lots of extras ! With 2 bedrooms and 2 baths downstairs and a master bedroom & bath suite upstairs, there is lots of room for family or friends. Barbara, the owner, was very easy and accommodating to deal with by phone and email and she made sure there were some welcoming gifts at the condo when we arrived. We really enjoyed the north-shore of St Croix. Gentle Winds is a 10 minute drive from Cane Bay, a fabulous spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. There are 4 or 5 restaurants in this area – all are surprisingly good – especially Eat at Cane Bay and Waves at Cane Bay. We highly recommend this condo at Gentle Winds !

My husband and I stayed at the condo for ten days with my daughter, son in-law, and 5 year old grandson. The three bedroom condo was perfect for us, as we each had a bedroom and bathroom. There is space for privacy with multiple outdoor balconies to enjoy both in the daytime and discovering stars at night. The kitchen was well equipped with everything one has at home for cooking, as we cooked all of our meals during our stay. One could not want more with your own private beach, large pool, beautiful grounds and golf course. Barbara, the owner was wonderful making the arrangements and even checked on us to see if we were doing okay. Don't miss out on this wonderful property and opportunity to discover St. Croix.

Wonderful Renovation of Classic Beach Condo

We had a great week at Barbara Flanagan's Gentle Winds Condo, "Calypso" in April. We were so delighted when we arrived at the condo. Everything is new, beautiful and well matched. She has an eye for decoration as well as detail. The high ceilinged living room is a gallery of wonderful, vibrant art and color. The condo is very neat and well kept, yet we were very comfortable as befits a beach location and felt like being guests in the home of a friend. Gentle Winds is a perfect vacation choice and well-known for its spacious grounds, activity areas for tennis, ping pong, four hole practice course, a wonderful beach, and a totally reconstructed pool. Plenty of space for everyone and a good time was had by all during the busy Spring Break holidays. St. Croix highlights for the family and grandchildren included Tan Tan Tours, SCUBA diving (the 12 year old got certified) with N2theBlue, Buck Island with Cpt. Heinz's Teroro and the mandatory Crab Races. And with "Calypso" condo as our base, it couldn't have been better.

A True Home Away from Home!

Left on 04/23/2012 Barbara seemed to think of everything from movies to books to Wii games and picnic & beach supplies. You really don't need to venture out of the condo complex for much. With 3 children, it was terrific to be able to go out & do a short bit of sight-seeing, then come back to relax in the pool or snorkel at the ocean beach. The condo is spacious enough that we all, 4 adults & 3 kids, were able to find quiet areas when need be. A truly relaxing vacation.

The sound of the wind and ocean is constant, and the accommodations do nothing but let you relax and enjoy the very private white -sand beach, tropical and warm pool (newly refurbished), and plan where you might eat in the evening. We are from the mid-west and hunger for the fresh catch of the day, available from the fish market in town. Beaches in St. Croix are all public, so make sure you find your way to Cane Bay, Buck Island, or even some more secluded areas near the East end by Point Udall--the eastern-most point in the us. We feel safe here, and are able to get whatever we need from the nearby super markets and various stores on the island. Don't come to St. Croix if your idea is to "be on the go"...bring books, many, many books. (Although many people will leave very interesting books for the next person in the beach house--very convenient!) This unit is very comfortable, and void of anything unpleasant. The owners take careful consideration to make your stay as stress-free as possible. Look forward to a well-appointed kitchen, clean bathrooms, and tropical, comfortable commons rooms. The owners have taken the time to put a very helpful binder together to help you find what is around. There is something for everyone here, from 8 months to 80, and we have seen all ages here. The beach was sandy with plenty of lounge chairs available to bask in the sun. The beach shack serves drinks as well as sandwiches. We found the people of St. Croix are quite friendly. Driving on the left side of the street is a little tricky but you will adjust to it. Gentle Winds is located in a quiet area away from the city of Christiansted, but it is easily accessible. The property manager was very helpful. She sent materials to us that included directions to grocery stores. This helped us navigate the area with little difficulty. She was available if she was needed. She was also willing to meet our flight at the airport and accompany us to the condo, something we should have taken her up on since it was dark when we arrived. We would recommend Pirates Tavern located in the Salt Bay Marina very close to the entrance of Gentle Winds. Everyone we met there including employees and customers were all very welcoming. I would recommend staying in this condo and hope to go back again sometime in the future.

Gentle Winds is Amazing

Barbara took the time to have the breeze blowing through the condo and minimal lights on. It was amazing. Once we got into the condo it didn't disappoint in any way day or night. It was immaculate. Every possible question we had was answered in Barbara's binder and the resort and people were just unbelievable. Our one week stay in the condo and on St. Croix was much too short. Nirvana at Gentle Winds

I have vacationed on many Caribbean islands before and staying at Gentle Winds was my favorite because of its quiet, peace and tranquility. I'm in my 60's and was relieved that there wasn't any loud partying at night. Even at peak season it wasn't crowded. There was always room at the pool and the beach. There are many fine restaurants less than 15 minutes away. Very clean and well maintained. Comfortable beds with a full kitchen to make any meal. Quiet with a nice pool and beach. Barbara, the owner was easy to contact and answered questions quickly. Amazing view of the beach/ocean from the balcony. Would recommend to anyone coming to St. Croix.

“Outstanding Family Vacation in St Croix”

My wife, daughter, grandson and I were treated to an absolutely outstanding vacation experience thanks to Gentle Winds Calypso Condo and the attention to every detail of our stay there by the owner Barbara Flanagan. From the first booking inquiry to questions when we arrived Barbara was so responsive with helpful information. The condo itself far exceeded our expectations - it was immaculate, well laid out and furnished and also featured a kitchen with spices, good quality cookware etc we needed when we cooked in. The Gentle Winds condo community was also immaculate, quiet and so pleasant we actually spent most of our 5 days there. We loved the salt water pool and the beach was also great. There is a small food service there featuring lunches and drinks so you can just veg out in the ever blowing sea breezes. Also large activity rooms with books and tables. We did take a drive to the Eastern most point of the US and did a half day snorkel trip to Buck Island which were also very enjoyable. We ate all but one dinner at the condo using the supplied gas grill. For the last night we drove to the Waves Restaurant on the North shore which was outstanding. My wife and I have traveled extensively using Tauck for our escorted trips. This condo is right up there with the very pricy 5 star Tauck chosen hotels! I can't think of anything I'd change!

Just got home from a wonderful time on the island of St. Croix! We loved our condo it was perfect for our family of 6. Everything we needed was there. Plenty of space for everyone. The owner is more than accomodating. She was very helpful with any questions that we had about our stay. I would recommend staying in this condo. It perfect!

My sister-in-law and I enjoyed a week at the Calypso Condo and hope to be repeat customers in the many years to come. Gentle Winds is close to restaurants, snorkeling/diving, kayak rentals. The on-site Snack Bar is great for lunch and/or a pool/beach-side drink.

Family Vacation

This was our 20th anniversary vacation. We brought our son and his family with us and we had a great time. Quite a few things have changed since out last visit but we still had a great time. I would also suggest staying on this side of the island and Calypso Condo was very nice. The owners have a very good network of support if you ever have any problems. We were in town for the Iron Man competition and that added a lot of fun to the island.

We stayed at the Calypso Condo recently and found the accommodations to be excellent. The condo is beautifully appointed and everything that one would need is available. The attention to detail, including the cleanliness of the condo, was far better than most rentals that we stayed at in the past. The resort provides a very nice opportunity to relax on a nice beach or at a resort-style pool. Very good restaurants are nearby. Overall, a great property on a nice location on this island. We would stay here again in a heartbeat if we ever visit St. Croix again.

This was my fourth trip to the island which has become one of my favorite spots to vacation, and my second stay at Gentle Winds, first time at Calypso Condo. The unit is very nicely done with a real island flair and has everything that you could possibly want from kitchen equipment to snorkel gear to tools to husk and crack a fresh coconut. The listing for the unit was extremely accurate and the pride of ownership is very evident. Very comforting to know any question we had was promptly answered via email by the owner and pertinent information and arrival instructions were sent to us in advance.

The beach at Gentle Winds rivals any other beach I have been on in the Caribbean. Clean, private and awesome! And it doesn't get any better than a burger from the beach bar (on site) eaten under a swaying palm tree with your toes buried in the sand. The grounds and facilities are so nice and well kept that you may not want to see the rest of St. Croix.

I almost hate to give a review, I don't want people to discover my paradise.

Quiet Relaxing Paradise

The condo was perfect for a family of six. The unit is updated, clean and tasteful. The only odd part I found was that you had to leave from the front if the unit and walk around to back to get to the beach. Views are great. Beach is magnificent. Beach bar was fun. My sons and I snorkeled right off the beach at the complex and saw brain coral, barracuda, and a stingray. Sunny every day. About 30 mins. to airport about 20 mins. to Christiansted. Be aware the major activity is sunning on the beach or pool. We thought it was perfect - first time in six month we had all our young adult children with us at the same time. Family really reconnected.

The condo was clean, spacious, and perfectly located. The owner was very accessible and I never worried about anything being other than described. The beach was beautiful with plenty of lounge chairs and room for everyone. We ate at several restaurants that I would recommend. Kendrick's and Savant were more expensive but worth the money. Rowdy Joe's and Eat at Cane Bay were great as well. Enjoyed the bar atmosphere at Tavern 1844. The husband did a dive with Sweet Bottom Dive Shop located at the Carambola Resort and said it was one of his best dive experiences. I highly recommend renting a car to explore this great island. Centerline Car rental was cheap and professional. Overall, the condo and the island were perfect!

Barbara did everything right from the start to ensure a perfect experience until the day we left. We enjoyed 9 wonderful days and despite a few glitches and a a power outage nothing diminished our experience. Barbara stayed in contact although wifi was spotty. There were 7 of us snd we never felt cramped. We loved calypso condo and not only would recommend it but hope to return. Thank you

We arrived at night and drove to Calypso Condo through what looked like a rather daunting jungle and we were quite nervous. However, when morning came and we woke up to the sea shining just across the lawn we were delighted. We were doing missionary work and the central location of Gentle Winds was just perfect. We found the unit to be spotless and beautifully decorated, just as advertised. It was all of that and more. I would recommend this site to anyone.

The place looked better in person than on the website. It was much larger than we thought. Everything we needed was in the condo. The location was perfect; far away from downtown but not too far away from anything else. Of course, the island is small and easy accessible to everything. The activities that we did was to visit the Cruzan rum factory (very interesting tour), Caribbean Sea Adventures to Buck Island (took us on power boat because sea was too choppy for catamaran) and went to the Whim Plantation. Both the rum factory and the Buck Island adventure were worth the money but the $60 ($10 per person) was not worth the price. Also, we went to Cane Bay Beach and the place was great. The snorkeling gear that Barbara and Bob provided were great. The young adults saw plenty of small fish not too far from the beach but they were more impressed with the rum factory since they were ages 18 and 19, can't drink in the states legally but could there. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to go. We have rented many condos and this was on top of our list. Barbara and Bob outdid themselves. I personally liked the art work but wish there were some information about the artists in the condo. The booklet came in handy. I did do some research prior to our trip but this not only emphasized what I read but gave us some more information. We did eat at the Pirate's Tavern, Off The Wall (for lunch and take out pizza), Eat at Cane Bay and Above the Cliff. Each restaurant we found the food delicious and the service fantastic. We ate at Off the Wall for lunch Monday and there was one person doing bartending and waitressing. She did an excellent job. All in all, wonderful, relaxing vacation.

My family of 6 with preteen children went to Calypso Condo for a week. We loved everything about it. It was immaculate, well stocked right down to the blender for our pina coladas. My kids used the basketball area, ping pong, shuffle board and putting green as well as the golf clubs for a round of golf. The pool was fantastic and open all hours which was nice to jump in at night. I would recommend this unit to everyone. I have traveled to many islands and many homes and condos, this condo has it all. We met many other owners/renters but it was never crowded. We also loved the beach shack, great food and great price as well as very friendly cooks. The location was also optimal, 15 min to town, 10 min to Cane bay. You will love your stay at calypso Condo.

My best friend and I planned this vacation for 5 years. Our stay at Gentle Winds was one of the most RELAXING and renewing time of our lives. Barbara your condo is so inviting, Comfortable beds, complete kitchen and a porch that we enjoyed both day and night. The sound of palm trees and crickets made for a magical and peaceful melody that would lull us into a trance of pure enjoyment. The grounds were impeccable and the pool so warm and the emerald and blue lights at night made swimming a surreal experience. Barbara thanks for the starfish necklaces and champagne, what a great way to start our adventure. We will BE BACK. My friend and I are bringing her daughters and we can't wait to share this island gem with them. For places to eat we recommend Rowdy Joes the chef won an award for best chef in St Thomas. For ambiance we recommend the Wave, the scenery is the true definition of Island Hideway. Best beach was at Carambola.So my final hint is to truly escape and relax in a quiet, serene, tropical place that has an owner that pays attention to every detail go to the Calypso Condo (C-2) at Gentle Winds. We had a delightful time at Calypso Condo (C-2). It had everything we needed. It was wonderfully decorated, almost luxurious. We spent most of our time on the beach and really appreciated having three bedrooms for three people.

Date of Stay August 1, 2013 .	Our family loved every minute of our vacation in St Croix... It was paradise! We picked the calypso condo based on reviews. We were thrilled from the moment we arrived. The condo was thoughtfully stocked with everything we could possibly need and more. Immaculate. Gorgeous. Well appointed. The location was perfect proximity to Sweet Bottom Dive Shop for our family reef dives. We had the best time relaxing with other guests poolside. To be honest, we did not want to leave. If you are considering this condo rental, book it now.

"We had a glorious time." VuPoint, April 22, 2014 Just got back from a vacation in STX where we stayed at Calypso Condo in the Gentle Winds resort. The resort was conveniently located for all our excursions. The condo was beautifully appointed and the owner provided us with everything we needed, and then some. We took great advantage of the resort beach, pool and snack shack. We also spent hours relaxing on the screened porch in the evenings. If we make it back to STX, we hope to stay at Calypso Condo again

"Home away from home!" Hildy's Gang, April 15, 2014 This is my first review, so it may jump around a little, but here goes! From the moment we made our reservation, Barb gave us limitless information! There were e-mail exchanges, links to websites and so on! In the condo, there is a folder and a drawer full of anything and everything you may need to know when staying in St. Croix! Everything was covered from car rentals to grocery stores, to the best jewelers to the finest hidden beaches! Nothing was missed! Upon arrival, we found some very nice gifts that Barb had left for us! Champagne chilling in the fridge, some beautiful necklaces for our kids, a lovely book about island life and a credit at the snack shack on the beach! Very kind, Barb, thank you!!! We got in rather late, so it was nice that there was coffee there for us to have for the next morning, too! The condo was perfect in every way! Our 15 year old had the front bedroom, king, with her own bathroom. Our 12 year old son had the rear bedroom with his own bath, too! My husband and I took the upstairs bedroom so we had a little extra space to spread out, and it was lovely! Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean every night was a nice departure to the snow and cold we left at home! The kitchen, grill, and several eating areas enticed us to eat at home a bit. We had breakfast at the condo most every day. We would venture out and see what we could find for lunch, then have dinner at home if we weren't out exploring. Groceries are very expensive on the island. We splurged on Bryers ice cream ($10 a half gallon) and Totino's frozen pizzas ($8 each)! We went to the open-air market on Saturday, across from Pueblo, too. We bought fresh local fruit, veggies and fish. The fish that they sell looks like it is straight out of a salt water fish tank, so it's a little hard to eat since it's so pretty! You pick out your fish/lobster/conch, then they clean it right there for you! Other than that, we stuck to the basics, but it is such a nice condo for cooking and eating in that we didn't mind! There was no hurry to cook or eat at a certain time, so that made it even more pleasant! The condo amenities were amazing! The beach was awesome, clean and had great snorkeling and swimming. The little shade huts and chairs were so nice to have! It must've been a perfect time to visit because it seemed like we had the place to ourselves! Around the corner from the beach is a tide pool area that we enjoyed exploring, too! The salt water pool was crystal clear and tidy all of the time! Great place! The snack shack was cute, but isn't guaranteed to be open every day. The girl that works there looks at the radar and if it shows rain, she won't open up. Of the seven days we were there, she was open three of them, even though the weather was only spotted rain? Make sure you have a Plan B if you want to eat there! We tried to eat at as many places as we could. We love to experience the local fare, but only maybe a snack here and there, not big meals! We were a little surprised that most places served simple "American" food? You could get a hamburger, fries and chicken strips everywhere. We expected to find more local fish and seafood, but most places only listed one or two menu items along those lines. We found a lot of good seafood at Spratnet! Cute, little, outdoor bar in Cane Bay, and they have a lot of local seafood; shark bites, lobster bites, fresh lobster, conch, etc. Also, be sure to try Calivn's "papawanna" (sp?)! It's his own rum/brew concoction! Good stuff! In Cane Bay, we also tried Waves and Eat. Waves has a little grotto where we sat with the ocean crashing right next to us! My husband even picked out his own lobster right out of their trap! Eat was good, too, and had one or two local fish on special. At Salt River, the Pirate Bar had only "American" fried food, but the Pain Killer was great! Over on the docks at Christiansted, Angry Nate's is good! The tuna appetizer that is sort of tempura style is great! Around the corner, the avacado Pit has good ice cream! Also in Cane Bay, Off the Wall had good looking pizza and calzones, and above the Cliff has home made shrimp poppers that are so good! We went to Palms for the Mako-Jumbie show! The entertainment was great, food was so-so! The best meals we had were in our swim suits, on Barb's terrace, together around the little table, just my family! ;-) Everything was great here, the island, the beaches, the relaxation, the condo, everything! Nice beds and pillows, fully stocked kitchen, great views and nice ocean breezes, handy washer and drier, and a shed full of things to use! On the days that we left the condo grounds, we'd grab Barb's beach chairs and towels, pack her cooler, bring her snorkel gear and sand toys, and we'd head out in search of a new beach! This was the highlight of our trip, not having anywhere to be at any certain time, just putzing around until we found a place to land for a few hours! Loved, loved, loved it!!! We can't wait to return


"Exactly what we wanted and needed." Leslie, April 4, 2014 Having never done a vacation rental before, I was a little nervous but knew for sure that I didn't want the big "resort hotel" experience for this trip. After reading the many wonderful reviews for Calypso Condo, we booked our trip hoping our experience was even half as good as those described. We couldn't have been more pleased with the entire experience. Barbara was so incredibly helpful (helpful suggestions, soliciting questions, recommendations, etc.) and has thought of absolutely everything that you could possibly need or want on your vacation. We are a family of 4, with a 12 year old daughter and a 15 year old son. We had way more than enough room. Having a full kitchen and washer/dryer was so convenient and made for long, relaxing days with no rushing around. There are ample towels, linens, dishes, kitchen necessities, etc...you really don't need to worry about anything. The storage room next to the condo has everything you might want for any island activity from flying a kite to snorkeling to golf to floating in the pool. The entire complex is beautiful. The beach is beautiful, the pool divine and the Snack Shack so wonderfully convenient. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay in Calypso Condo.

"Tranquility by the Sea" Margaret, March 28, 2014 Peace and quiet in a in a breathtaking setting, Calypso Condo is filled with luxurious comfort for our family of two senior adults with two teenage grands.No problems with the Satellite T.V. and an endless supply of CDs. Salt water pool and beach with snack bar are just across the grass, within a short walk. Beach towels and sun hats are provided, even sun lotion. Kitchen is well equipped.Just be sure to find grocery or have housekeeper buy groceries, The best part is the cleanliness of the whole condo.The staff at the condo are friendly and helpful as are all the natives we met on the island. They want to please the tourists, We were surprised with beautiful gifts at the condo. Lovely place!!!
